Phil Tippett is a legendary figure in visual effects, having worked on films such as Dragonslayer, Robocop and Willow. On Star Wars: A New Hope he helped create the chess scene; for The Empire Strikes Back he co-developed the “go motion” technique used to animate the tauntauns and AT-ATs.
Tippett has won two Oscars over the course of his career, the first for heading-up the Lucasfilm creature shop on Return of the Jedi, The second Oscar was for his work on Jurassic Park.
Needless to say, the man has had an illustrious career.
So what would you say if I said that Tippett may (and I emphasise may) be working on Episode VII?
