Harrison Ford injured… by the Millennium Falcon? (updated)

Apparently Harrison Ford has injured his ankle while filming a scene on the set of the Millennium Falcon. The culprit? A door on the ship.

Here’s the official statement:

Harrison Ford sustained an ankle injury during filming today on the set of Star Wars: Episode VII. He was taken to a local hospital and is receiving care. Shooting will continue as planned while he recuperates.

Hopefully Ford will recover soon, though I can’t quite see how shooting will continue “as planned” if they have to alter the schedule around this incident.

Implicit here, of course, is the (rather obvious) news that Han Solo will be back aboard the Falcon for Episode VII.

UPDATE: Brian Cameron from Jedi News tweeted the following:

This is in line with the police statement that it was a “garage door” that caused the injury. So the Falcon may not be at fault after all, but it sounds nasty nonetheless.

UPDATE #2: Deadline is also reporting a fractured ankle, as is The Hollywood Reporter. Notably, Deadline claims Ford’s role in Episode VII is “an integral part of the plot”.

UPDATE #3: Lucasfilm have confirmed that Ford did indeed break his ankle.

UPDATE #4: Ford will be out of action for up to eight weeks.
