Harrison Ford’s injury: will it necessitate rewrites? (updated)

We know Britain’s Sun newspaper is not really a reputable source, but today the paper is reporting that Ford will be returning to the U.S. for rehabilitation and won’t be returning for six months. Filming will possibly be extended “well into the second half of this year”

Don’t panic just yet, however. The same user on IMDb who provided some rather reliable set descriptions has posted the following memorised portion of a Pinewood memo:

With Mr Ford returning to the US for treatment, rescheduling of the AVCO shoot is necessitated. We will update regarding knock-on effects to schedules as and when necessary. No new pages.

AVCO is the codename for Episode VII. What’s interesting here, though, is the last sentence. “No new pages” means no script rewrites, at least for now.

UPDATE: Our friends at Jedi News are also hearing that “production of the film could be pushed back by a substantial amount of time.” Mark from Jedi News has further elaborated at The Metro that the options being discussed at Pinewood involve either pushing the production back significanly or rewriting Ford’s part, possibly even removing him from the film completely.
