Various potential Episode VII plot details (spoilers, obviously)

This morning all sorts of plot details regarding Episode VII are floating around. Remember, however, that nothing I post here will go beyond the (supposed) premise of the film…

Firstly, Jeremy (a.k.a. Mr. Beaks) over at Ain’t It Cool News claims that “Han Solo is pretty much the main character of EPISODE VII, leading a galaxy-wide search party for Luke Skywalker.” Devin Faraci at Badass Digest similarly says he’s heard that “Solo is the star of this Star Wars and that the old smuggler would be taking the new kids on a journey across the galaxy to find an old friend who had gone missing.” This general premise has been talked about a little bit recently but, like anything Episode VII-related, it’s all very unclear.

Jason at Making Star Wars has added a few more details, such as Daisy Ridley’s character starting the film on Tatooine, having lived there “a very long time”, and that John Boyega may initially be an Imperial of some kind. (Is Boyega playing a Lando-type character who starts out dubious but ends up being one of the good guys?) Jason points to the fact that Ridley and Boyega were the only two cast members of Episode VII filming at Abu Dhabi and that his information seems to fit awkwardly with the AICN rumour.

I’d add that the Tatooine set at Pinewood means that any character might appear on the planet, however—even Han Solo (or Oscar Isaac’s character). Harrison Ford never set foot in Tunisia while filming Star Wars: A New Hope and yet Tatooine is where Han first meets Luke, Ben Kenobi and the droids.

As for Boyega’s character, one theory doing the rounds amongst fans is that he’s actually a stormtrooper. It’s just speculation (probably based on the photo below from Instagram) but it’s interesting to think about nonetheless.
