There’s been many a debate amongst Star Wars fans regarding Andy Serkis’ role in Episode VII. Well, Serkis has confirmed that his performance capture studio The Imaginarium will be providing its services to Star Wars in general, including Episode VII. You can fairly easily join the dots here and come to the conclusion that Serkis himself is using performance capture in Episode VII:
“The Imaginarium is now involved in all of the performance capture on the Star Wars projects,” Serkis confirms, “and I’m playing a character in that.”
Actors in performance capture suits have been spotted on the Imperial-style hangar set, for example, and given Serkis’ statement we can assume such CG characters will appear in Gareth Edwards’ standalone film as well.
