More clues from the Force Awakens Topps cards…

J.J. Abrams specifically said that the numbers on the trading cards are significant. How do they align with the same numbered cards from the original Star Wars run?

Some of these are obvious. Others? Not so much. Here are my thoughts:

  • As hinted by the Entertainment Weekly caption, Kylo Ren is the evil inverse of the Luke Skywalker archetype (Edit: Turns out that was just the writer of the article speculating.)
  • Rey is a continuation of the Skywalker lineage, also hidden on a desert planet—she fills the “hero” archetype
  • Like Artoo on the Tantive IV, Finn carries a secret that he needs to deliver
  • The desert planet is almost certainly Tatooine

That’s off the top of my head. The picture is definitely becoming clearer.

Well played, J.J. Well played.

  3. You’re spot on!! The only one that doesn’t make sense to me is the 67 Kylo Ren card. IIRC the Blue vintage cards stopped at 66. So I’d suggest the significance is simply that there is nothing comparable to Kylo Ren in the OT.

    Thanks!
