Given Bob Iger’s recent comments regarding new Disney theme park attractions being based around The Force Awakens and other upcoming Star Wars movies, it should come as no surprise that (rumour has it) their first port of call will be to update Star Tours: The Adventures Continue.
For those who don’t know, Star Tours is a randomised 3D motion simulator ride which takes participants to various locales in the Star Wars universe, including Coruscant, Hoth, Tatooine and Naboo. Although the ride takes place between Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: A New Hope, new planets from The Force Awakens could be included without much fuss, and plot points from the film could be foreshadowed, even if the events of the film are some 30+ years away.
Industrial Light and Magic could conceivably fold a couple of Star Tours sequences into their Force Awakens post-production work, using assets from the film and then tweaking them as needed. At present, Star Tours has 54 different sequence combinations, but if (say) two sequences were included so as to tie-in with The Force Awakens, you’d suddenly have 96 sequence combinations, and they could continue to add new sequences for each subsequent film.
This is a relatively straightforward solution that will guarantee the presence of Force Awakens content at Disney parks in time for the film’s release.
