StarWars.com have just put up the first five pages of Darth Vader #4. Marvel’s output continues to impress me—while I found Darth Vader #3 a little weak, overall their team seems to really understand what it is that makes Star Wars great. Their eponymous flagship title captures the fun and adventure of Star Wars at its best; Darth Vader captures the intrigue; Princess Leia gives us more of those quieter, character-driven moments; and Kanan details the true horror of Order 66.
Darth Vader #4 looks like it’ll be a return to form, and it demonstrates why, after #3, single issues shouldn’t be judged in isolation. A complete story arc—roughly equivalent to a movie—should be judged as a whole.
