There have been rumblings for a while now that film crews would return to Skellig Michael for more Star Wars filming next month. Debate arose as to whether this was for last-minute pickups for The Force Awakens or instead for Episode VIII.
Well, The Movie Bits is reporting that six weeks are blocked for shooting in Kerry, the county in Ireland which is home to Skellig Michael. On the other hand, The Irish Times is reporting that transport to the island has been arranged for four days during that window. It’s easy to speculate that other locations in Kerry may be used during the remainder of that time.
Either way, this six weeks of filming is almost certainly for the planet where Luke Skywalker has been residing for some time (perhaps a little bit like Dagobah’s role with regard to Yoda in The Empire Strikes Back). If the report is accurate, the natural conclusion to draw is that Luke will feature heavily in the sequel to The Force Awakens.
